Conservative Call to Positive Action
The late Republican Senator Barry Goldwater knew the high cost of compromise. He said:
“[E]xtremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”
Our elected leaders are compromisers. They have compromised on principle. The so-called economic stimulus package is too little too late. What do we have? We have a group of elected officials who have compromised on a long grocery list of issues, including basic laws of finance.
And now liberal special interests are raising big bucks from Big Labor, Hollywood elites and radical protest groups like MoveOn.org to defeat conservative Republicans in November.
The Democrats and their liberal special interest cronies will say whatever it takes to win total control of the government and spend millions to deceive the people. Americans should tremble, because Democrats are interested only in power, not the people. They are determined to push our country to the Left—more socialism and more secularism. This is the wrong direction for our nation.
Whoever the Democrat nominee turns out to be, discerning Americans already know their dark vision for the future. There’s not a plug nickels worth of difference between any of the three Democratic presidential candidates. All three are Socialists. If elected to the highest office in the land in November of 2008, God forbid, they will attempt to:
• Implement massive tax increases that punish hard-working American families in order to pay for new government bureaucracies that will enslave the lower and middle classes.
• Give government more power and control over health care instead of patients and doctors.
• Advance the culture of death by funding abortion and blocking pro-life legislation.
• Retreat from the War against radical Islamo-Fascism, reduce the size of the military, and cut off funding for our brave men and women in uniform who are sacrificing for our freedom.
• Actively support “hate crimes” bills which will allow federal prosecution for crimes based on “actual or perceived” sexual orientation.
• Use similar laws to silence those who believe that heterosexuality is better for American families.
• Use “Hate crimes” laws to devalue the lives of other victims who are not members of a protected group and punish people for their thoughts rather than their actions.
“We the people” must not allow a return of the high taxes, bigger government, and a weakened national security style of governing that liberals and leftists embody.
Evangelicals and conservatives must not be intimidated into silence by liberal groups during this election season. Pastors and Christian educators alike have a responsibility to educate church members and college students to know and understand the freedoms we can exercise in America. Pastors, church leaders, and Christian educators must not be intimidated to feel threatened during this pivotal presidential election year. This is the time to take a stand on issues important to our nation and the time to act on principle. Faith without action is dead. Faith works.
